The general working hours in Spain typically span eight hours a day, with a siesta break in between.
Usually, the starting time for a standard workday is around 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM through to 5:00 PM. The typical maximum weekly working hours in Spain amount to 40 hours.
Spain consists of 50 provinces. Spain covers two time zones:
- CET (UTC+01:00) and CEST (UTC+02:00) in Peninsular Spain, the Balearic Islands, Ceuta, Melilla and the plazas de soberanía

Additionally, Spain offers a maternity leave of 16 weeks, fully paid, and fathers are entitled to the same duration of leave.
When it comes to annual leave, employees working through Remundo receive 23 working days of leave, though the legal minimum stands at 30 calendar days (approximately 22 working days).
Notably, recent legislation has introduced a unique three-day “menstrual” leave of absence, extendable to five days, designed to support individuals dealing with severe menstrual symptoms. This leave requires a doctor’s certification and is fully covered by the public social security system.
